Typically, a Renogy starter kit includes a charge controller, one or more solar panels, multiple mounting brackets, several adapter cables, and monitoring/communication devices.

While installation details may vary depending on the specific starter kit model, the following general steps apply to most kits:

  1. Connect the charge controller to a battery first
  2. Connect the included solar panels in series or parallel on demand
  3. Connect the charge controller to solar panels

Renogy Official Guide

Renogy offers an official setup video for the 200W starter kit, which features the Rover charge controller. This kit includes two 100W solar panels, an adapter kit, a tray cable, Z brackets, and a 20A Rover charge controller.

To set it up:

  1. Connect the Rover charge controller to a 12V battery using the tray cable.
  2. Connect the solar panels in series and attach them to the Rover using the adapter kit.
  3. The Rover will confirm the panel connection through its LED and LCD screen.
  4. Mount the panels on a roof using the provided Z brackets.
