Los Angeles, California - Fall 2019 - Renogy, the source for innovative solar and portable renewable energy solutions, has teamed up with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), the City of Los Angeles and Bicycle Transit Systems - the agency's regional bike share program vendor - to help expand the county's efforts to go green.

what is metro

Metro's Bike Share Program offers a viable two-wheeled transportation alternative in key areas of Los Angeles County while helping to reduce pollution, congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, Renogy's solar products are designed to draw energy from the sun, which helps combat greenhouse gas emissions. Both organizations are committed to Los Angeles County's efforts to go entirely green by 2050.

Renogy and L.A. Metro partnership overview

In the coming year, Metro's Bike Share Program will be expanding its ride share programs with up to 40 additional kiosks in Central Los Angeles, all of which will include Renogy 300 Watt, 24 Volt Monocrystalline Solar Panels. The panels will ensure that the kiosks can remain self-sufficient so that riders can take advantage of Metro's fleet of 1,500 bicycles to navigate the regions where bike share stations have been installed.

Savings to celebrate

These panels will generate around 33,000 kWh of clean energy annually, ensuring the kiosks remain self-sufficient and fully support Metro's fleet of 1,500 bicycles. This green energy initiative not only aligns with Metro's commitment to reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions but also delivers notable financial benefits. The program is set to save approximately $6,500 each year thanks to the solar power. Additionally, the use of these panels will cut carbon dioxide emissions by around 13.7 metric tons annually. By integrating these solar panels, Metro is enhancing its bike share system's sustainability and supporting Los Angeles County's goal to achieve full green energy by 2050. This effort underscores Metro's dedication to both environmental stewardship and operational efficiency, providing a cleaner, more cost-effective transportation solution for the community.
